Not everyone lives near an ocean or a lake, so why not going for Windsurfing on a nearby river?
There are maybe hundreds of rivers worldwide, a few of them have already been discovered by windsurfers and are offering perfect conditions.
Depending on the wind force and the rivers characteristics, you will find everything from flat-water, to bump & jump and wavelike sailing conditions.
The current is part of what makes Windsurfing on a river so great. With the current driving you down the river and the wind pushing you up the river, you can sail downwind all the time.
Especially for freestyle windsurfers, rivers are a perfect playground to improve their skills!

This time we introduce Nick Allen from Hood River/USA as ripper of the month . Nick is a dedicated/talented freestyle windsurfer and snowboarder who calls the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood his local playgrounds.
In an interview he talks about his life and passion for river windsurfing:
"Now (13 years later) life has improved alot, I have really grown to love it here. I work in the snow sports industry, allowing windsurfing every day in the summer, and snowboarding every day in the winter. The mix of seasons will keep me from ever getting burned out of one thing..."

The "Jump Off" teams have had killer conditions in the past 10 days including an amazing 3.3 day at The Wall. Mother Nature gave all she had and took a rest on the final day with light easterlies and blazing temps.
Women Biggest Invert- Temira Wagonfeld 16.6ft Biggest Stock Air- Ingrid Larouche 14.2 I'd write more but we're all headed to the Hatch to sail. ;-)

Julien Sanchez from Lyon/France is our latest ripper of the month. Julien is a professional sports filmaker, photographer and ambioned windsurfer who calls the Rhône River his local playground.
In an interview he talks about his passion for windsurfing and his profession.
